Students and parents filed in local schools Monday, Aug. 18, to launch the new school year. Lines were long and parking was scarce forcing many back-to-schoolers to get an early morning workout as they hiked varied distances to reach their destinations, many of them hauling school supplies.
At West Navarre Intermediate, traffic was backed up all the way to Highway 98. At Holley Navarre Primary, cars lined both sides of Casa de Oro Street. School buses that operate on a tiered schedule reportedly ran up to an hour late as everyone, including brand new kindergartners, got accustomed to the new routine.
