SMALL PLANE CRASH

5 Things to Know in FloridaAuthorities say a father was killed and his daughter seriously injured while walking on the sand when a small plane crash landed along Florida’s Gulf Coast near Venice Beach.

PREGNANT WOMAN KILLED

A five-month pregnant woman died after she was shot in the head while admiring a friend’s gun collection, Hernando County authorities said. The Citrus County woman and her husband were looking at the gun collection belonging to her friend William DeHayes in Brooksville when DeHayes’ .22 caliber revolver discharged and hit the wife in the head.

VOTER REGISTRATION-DEADLINE

Floridians are running out of time to register to vote in the August primary. Monday is the deadline to register for next month’s elections. Floridians must be at least 18 years old by Aug. 26 and a U.S. citizen.

TUSKEGEE AIRMEN CONVENTION OPENING IN ORLANDO

The 43rd national convention of the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. kicks off this week in Orlando. Two dozen of America’s first African-American pilots and air crew who gained acclaim during World War II will attend the convention, which begins July 30 and runs through Aug. 2 at the Rosen Centre Hotel and Resort.

MARLINS RETURN HOME AFTER SUCCESSFUL ROAD TRIP

The Miami Marlins won six games on a seven-game road trip that took them to Atlanta and Houston, wrapping up a sweep of the Astros on Sunday. The team returns home Monday for a three-game series against the division leading Washington Nationals.
