Sobriety checkpoint nets few offenders

Florida_Highway_Patrol_logo_(emblem)Less than five percent of the nearly 500 motorists stopped during a July 4 roadside sobriety checkpoint on US 90 near Avalon Boulevard in Santa Rosa County were arrested or issued traffic citations by the Florida Highway Patrol.

In addition to seven criminal arrests and 16 traffic citations, 39 motorists received warnings or faulty equipment notices. The roadside sobriety checkpoint was conducted between 10:10 p.m., July 4 and 1:30 a.m., July 5.
