Traffic heavy, expect delays

IMG_4842Traffic on Highway 98 in the Navarre area is “slow go” as many motorists are heading to July 4th destinations and making plans for fireworks displays.

“We expect a lot of people to be on Navarre Beach and along Highway 98 for the fireworks,” said Mike Sandler, Chairman of the Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the group organizing the local display. “At this point, the sheriff’s office doesn’t plan to turn both lanes of the causeway bridge northbound after the fireworks but it will depend on the volume of traffic on the beach and on Highway 98.”

Sandler said he expects all public parking areas on the beach to be full, as well as other popular fireworks viewing locations including Navarre Beach Fishing Pier, Juana’s, Navarre Beach Marine Park and locations on the mainland including Navarre Park and business parking lots along Highway 98.

The fireworks show, funded by the Santa Rosa County Tourist Development Council, is scheduled to begin at dusk and will originate from the Black Skimmer Pavilion area in the Navarre Beach Marine Park.
