Cyclists ride to remember, raise awareness

ride mapFor the first time, Pensacola will be a site for the annual, nationwide observance of “Ride of Silence” to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured by motorists. The event is also designed to bring awareness to “Sharing the Road.” May is National Bike Month, and the “Ride of Silence” is held the third Wednesday of May.

The ride, organized by West Florida Wheelmen, Inc., is free and open to the public, but those planning to ride the 7-mile course must wear a helmet. A program will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the Pensacola State College Lou Ross/WSRE parking lot with the ride starting at 6 p.m. on May 21.
