Woman sentenced for mortgage fraud scheme

dojA California woman was sentenced May 14 in Pensacola to seven years in prison and ordered to pay more than $10 million in restitution for charges stemming from a mortgage fraud scheme, which included homes in Navarre, Santa Rosa Beach and Panama City.

According to a release from the U.S. Department of Justice, 47-year-old Andrea Avery admitted that between 2005 and 2008 she entered into contracts to purchase 24 homes in Florida and four other states and received financing by submitting fraudulent loan applications.
