Water quality advisory lifted for Gulf, Sound

DSC_5978The Florida Department of Health in Santa Rosa County announced May 7 that recreational water advisories for various locations along the Gulf of Mexico and Santa Rosa Sound have been lifted.

Testing indicates that bacteria levels in water samples taken at Navarre Park at Highway 98, Navarre Beach West, Navarre Beach Pier, Juana’s Beach, and Shoreline Park have returned to normal.  Signs in these areas will be removed as soon as possible.  The water quality advisory for Carpenter’s Park has also been rescinded.

The department does not conduct water quality sampling of inland waterways and advises the public to continue to use caution when engaging in water-related activities in inland recreational waterways, as there may still be residual contamination from flooded septic systems and agricultural runoff in some of these areas.
