salter,-don.campaign-2004About 30 elected officials and business leaders attended a Florida Chamber of Commerce half-day conference in Pensacola April 18 highlighting the importance of trade and logistics to the region and the state. The conference was the third regional rollout for the chamber’s Trade & logistics Study 2.0.

“In 2010 we issued our first report highlighting trade opportunities with the expanding Panama Canal,” said Tony Carvajal, Executive Vice President, Florida Chamber Foundation. “That project has been a little slower in its development but there are tons of opportunities that are being maximized and others that can be developed.”

“We have a huge potential someday to become an inland port,” said Santa Rosa County Commissioner Don Salter. “We have a rail spur in the industrial park that could transport goods to the Port of Pensacola.”
