gonzalezThe Florida Supreme Court April 10 in a unanimous decision upheld both the convictions and sentences imposed on 41-year-old Leonard Patrick Gonzalez, Jr. in connection with the 2009 home invasion and murder of Byrd and Melanie Billings in their Escambia County home.

He was convicted of two counts of first degree murder and one count of home invasion robbery with a firearm. On Feb. 17, 2011, Judge Nicholas Geeker followed the jury’s recommendation and sentenced Gonzalez to death for both murders.
