Crews this week are starting a project to add a second left turn lane to accommodate motorists heading north from the Navarre Beach Bridge onto Highway 98. The project is scheduled to take 60 days and that means it should be completed about a week prior to the busy Memorial Day weekend.
“It should be done before Memorial Day but rain could slow the project down,” said Santa Rosa County Engineer Roger Blaylock. “If the project is not complete, crews will not work the Friday before Memorial Day weekend or on the Monday,” he said.
In order to make room for the second left turn lane, Blaylock said the landscape island to the east of the current left turn lane will be made smaller.
