Video games serve as creative outlet

Tanner-2For Gulf Breeze Middle School student Tanner Williams, an interest in video games has led him to discover a new talent for making and editing game-play videos on his YouTube channel, LegendOfGuiga.

Williams, 14, started making the game-play videos two months ago as a way to interact with other gamers online. He has made more than two dozen videos since then, which he said take about five hours each to make.

Some of Williams’ favorite games to make videos about include Zelda, Pokémon, Elder Scrolls and Minecraft. His first attempt at video editing, Williams’ videos incorporate a spoken script timed to a video with animation and captions.

“I write the script beforehand,” Williams said. “Sometimes I will get a cool idea for a video, so I’ll write it down before I forget. When I finish recording the script, I use Camtasia Studio to edit the audio together with the video footage.” Read more in the March 6 issue of Navarre Press or subscribe online.
