Santa Rosa County Engineer Roger Blaylock was contacted this morning by Navarre Press regarding comments reportedly made by County Public Information Officer, Joy Tsubooka, to a local newspaper regarding the demolition of the Pier Bar. “She (Tsubooka) was partially right, I did go down there Saturday, but I did not direct or tell anyone to do anything other than what was in the contract,” Blaylock said.
Blaylock stated it was his understanding that if a fixture was attached it was to stay and if freestanding it could go. Blaylock stated that when he arrived during heavy rainfall a “lean to” had already been demolished but that the bar was intact. “I’ll leave that up to the County Attorney,” said Blaylock regarding whether or not it was legal for the bar area to be demolished.
